My name is Presley Aaron. I’m from a small town in South Carolina and just moved to Nashville. I’ve been playing shows since I’ve been 16 and traveling every weekend ever since. Music is what I love to do and make. It’s my passion. I love to write what I feel and hope there is people out there that can relate.

About David Havens:

"I am originally from The Mississippi Delta where I was raised on Elvis
music and biscuits as big as your fist. After spending 18 of the last
22 years at our sister station KIX96 this 40 year radio journey has
brought me to mornings on Q107.
I am proud to be a broadcaster as now more than anytime in modern
history, responsibility of radio broadcasters serving the public is
paramount. On behalf of all the Big River Broadcasting stations I would
like to thank you for choosing us as your information and entertainment
radio stations. With you, the listener, and me together every morning,
we can grab life by the ball bearings and seize the moment to make it
the best day possible for us and those around us!"

“It’s about using kindness as a way to approach difficult subjects. As we’re fighting for change, let’s come from a place of trying to understand our fellow human beings.”    Tyler Bancroft

This week's menu features the Vancouver's Said the Whale. Said The Whale have earned their place in the Canadian music pantheon. They’ve won a Juno Award, topped the alternative radio chart, and amassed a devoted base of fans who affectionately describe themselves as “SaidHeads” — all the while maintaining their resolute independent spirit. Now, more than a decade into their career, the Vancouver group are opening their most ambitious chapter yet.  Throughout 2020, lockdowns meant that the band members were at home, away from the relentless touring cycle that had defined most of their 14-year career. Singer-songwriters Tyler Bancroft and Ben Worcester, plus keyboardist Jaycelyn Brown and bassist Lincoln Hotchen, threw themselves fully into working on new material with producer Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat) at his Tugboat Place Studio, resulting in the most towering, maximalist music of their careers. We talk with the brothers on this week's Blue Plate Special along with a tasty menu of new music from Wavy Trees, 8th Day, The Maine, Gary Numan, Wilderado, Don't Believe in Ghosts, The Matchstick Skeletons, 916frosty, Jaguar Jonze, Phoneboy,
Amigo The Devil & Headed Nowhere!

Hosted by Aaron Zytle.

Plus Maximum Alternative Magazine's Mike Parrish has our Take Out feature song!

Next week we stay up North to find out more about Canada's The Matchstick Skeletons!

Stay Tuned!

Raised in the legend-filled, limestone land of Tennessee, Jason Lee Wilson naturally blends the spirit of the old west with a little southern "branch" for a refined mixture of rockabilly, traditional country, and gospel music. With the talented James County, he celebrates stories of the legends and the land that shaped them along the way.

Bio:

Krystal had her own taste in music from an early age when she caught a snippet of Alan Jackson on the radio. From then she was hooked on steel guitar and lyrics that painted a picture of the humble truths of life. After years of bouncing on her bed singing Shania Twain, playing with a toy guitar, and singing songs she had written to her dog, Krystal's parents bought her her first guitar. Krystal took off learning chords to play her favorite songs and soon began to craft and write her own. Krystal, originally from Hickory, NC, has been on a musical journey leading her to her current residence in Nashville, TN. Krystal is a strong believer in the power of music to heal hearts and communities. Because of this belief, Krystal works during the day as a psychiatric music therapist. When she is not working, Krystal is writing and playing music at the downtown honky tonks and other local venues, as well as, traveling to spread her music to a larger audience. Krystal's sound is as quirky as her person and she is not afraid to show some honest humor in her material such as her first single "You had me at Double Wide." Krystal pulls her inspiration from classic and outlaw artist's such as Willie and Loretta as well as the modern likes of Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Nettles, and Chris Stapleton to result in a twangy blues of her own.
