Music From Muscle Shoals (Then, Now and Forever), hosted by David Havens is music from the Muscle Shoals area, including Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, Fame, and other studios in the surrounding areas. This music had an undeniable influence on american popular music of all formats.
This month's show features a tribute to Swampers' drummer Roger Hawkins whom we lost back in May. He was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame 1995 and Musician's Hall of Fame in 2008. Hawkins's drumming can be found in many hit singles, including tracks by Percy Sledge ("When a Man Loves a Woman"), Aretha Franklin ("Respect", "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)" etc.), Wilson Pickett ("Mustang Sally", "Land of 1000 Dances"), The Staple Singers, Johnnie Taylor, Cat Stevens, Duane Allman, Joe Cocker, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Boz Scaggs, Albert King, Traffic, Willie Nelson, and Eric Clapton.
On the third Monday of each month at 5pm central for two hours, click the "Listen Live" button at the top of this page, and David will take you back to the days where it all began through today's stars, and tomorrow's future stars and tap into this limitless resource called Muscle Shoals Music.
