Enjoy Music, Fun, and Charity at the 5th Annual Mayday Music Festival in Florence, Alabama

The the 5th annual Mayday Music Festival took place in Florence, Alabama at McFarland Park. This year's event was bigger and better than ever, expanding to two days filled with live music, a car show, a bike show, a dunking booth, a bull ride, a variety of food and craft vendors, and much more.

Patrons were able to enjoy live music Saturday and Sunday with a diverse lineup performed by talented local artists.

Each year, the Mayday Music Festival raises funds for important volunteer organizations. This year, 100% of the proceeds supported two worthy causes: Restoration Ranch and the Littleville Fire Department.

Lisa T, host of the Mayday Music Festival, spoke with Mary, a volunteer at Restoration Ranch, to explain its mission. "It helps people that struggle with drug addiction alcohol addiction and emotional problems. It's a free program ran completely on donations, so things like this [May Day] really help out to do repairs for property and provide the needs of the residents in the program."

The Littleville Fire Department, part of the CCAVFD group established in 1985, relies on volunteers to save lives and protect property in the county. The department is currently in need of essential tools and maintenance to improve efficiency and safety. The proceeds from Mayday will help make these improvements a reality.

At the end of the event, the total proceeds raised was over $4000 this year.  For more details, please visit the official May Day Music Fest site.

The SweetWater 420 Fest originated in 2004 as a celebration of music and sustainability, inspired by the Earth Day movement. The festival takes its name from the SweetWater Brewing Company, a local Atlanta brewery and the event's main sponsor.  Initially envisioned as a one-day Earth Day party, the festival grew over the years, expanding to a full weekend of music, art, and environmental awareness. The organizers aimed to create an event that not only provided entertainment but also promoted eco-friendly practices and community engagement.  The festival not only showcases live music but also emphasizes environmental sustainability, offering eco-friendly initiatives, a 5K run, and an artist market.

Atlanta, GA (April 05, 2024) - SweetWater Brewing is announcing significant changes to this year's SweetWater 420 Fest, including a reimagined lineup and an entirely free concert, with a $10 donation to its non-profit partner, the Waterkeeper Alliance. SweetWater Brewing invites fans to take a trip back to its roots, hosting a more intimate festival focused on killer jams, heady brews, and supporting our long-time friends at the Waterkeeper Alliance, who are fighting to protect clean water around the world. "We've thought a lot about the direction of SweetWater 420 Fest and decided to add a hefty dose of eco-awareness and grassroots energy back into this amazing party, which will be the rager it's always been," said Ty Gilmore, President of U.S. Beers for Tilray Brands. "SweetWater 420 Fest started as a free Earth Day bash, and that inspired us to reimagine this year's event with a single-stage format, a lineup that taps into the festival's jam and groove roots, and a significant charitable component to help the environment. It's a win-win for everyone: our fans can see some of our favorite bands in a uniquely intimate setting for a modest donation and collectively support the Waterkeeper Alliance's crucial work to keep our rivers and oceans clean and healthy."

Artists-By-Day includes:

SATURDAY, APRIL 20:  Gov't  Mule; Grace Potter; St. Paul and the Broken Bones; Larkin Poe; Andy Frasco & the U.N.; Connor Clark & Blue Rhythm Revival.

About Pratt Pullman District
Initially built in 1904 by Pratt Engineering, the site was home to the manufacturing of fertilizer bombs during WWI and the patenting of liquid carbonated gasses purchased by a then-startup, The Coca-Cola Company. In 1922, The Pullman Company purchased and expanded the site. Pullman, renowned for luxurious rail travel across the country, hired African American men as porters to service rail car passengers. The Brotherhood of the Sleeper Car Porters was the first organized African-American labor union and was instrumental in the civil rights movement. In 2017 the site was purchased by Atomic Entertainment, who has transformed the Pullman Yards into the premier arts and entertainment destination in the southeast, showcasing a variety of world-class exhibits, restaurants, cultural events, concerts, festivals, corporate events, private parties, galleries while serving as the filming destination of some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters including HUNGER GAMES, FAST AND FURIOUS, BABY DRIVER, and BAD BOYS 3.
