WFMC Jams
WFMC Jams is an online internet radio station committed to bringing you original music as well as your favorite classics from a variety of local artists in the area. The station was founded on June 24, 2012 right after the Third Annual Fam Jam music festival in Manchester, TN. The idea came up as a way to continue to give back to the local and regional songwriters and performers in the area year round by promoting their music.
2019 Marks the 85th Annual North AL State Fair
The first North Alabama State Fair was held in 1935. The total attendance was 2,059. From this small beginning the Fair has grown to be one of the largest annual events in North Alabama.
The North Alabama State Fair is a nonprofit, self-supporting organization. The North Alabama State Fair receives no subsidy from the city, county, state, or federal governments.
The North Alabama State Fair is best described as a family-oriented community event. Agricultural, industrial, cultural, and commercial exhibits are on display. The North Alabama State Fair is operated for the benefit of the community.
A major portion of the money spent at the North Alabama State Fair remains in the community. Profits above operation expenses and capital expenditures are donated to charitable organizations. Board members receive no compensation.
The 2019 Fair will be the 85th annual event with a goal of 2,500 exhibits, an attendance goal of 36,000, and cash awards offered in excess of $45,000.
Musicians Corner is a central point in Nashville's Centennial Park, free and open to all, where Music City gathers to perform and enjoy its music. Music in all forms. Music that entertains us, build bridges within our community, welcomes our visitors and connects us with the world.
Inspired by "Speaker's Corner" in London and Nashville's hunger for free outdoor music programming, Musicians Corner illustrates the diversity, passion, and fellowship of Music City.
For over 100 years, speakers have gathered at Speaker's Corner each week, attracting people from across the globe. Entertaining, challenging, compelling and fun - there is nothing else like it. Musicians Corner's long-term vision to become the world's musical Speaker's Corner here in Nashville.
Musicians Corner takes place at Centennial Park's southwest corner facing West End Avenue. This natural amphitheater landscape boasts the park's true to life replica of the Parthenon as its atmospheric backdrop. Events currently take place on Friday evenings in May and June from 5 - 9pm and Saturday afternoons in May, June, August, and, September from 12 - 6 PM. Each week features a diverse celebration of Music City's musical melting pot.
A Baltimore native and Nashville resident, Billy Kemp is a musician, songwriter, singer, composer and producer. He is a multi-instrumentalist but is best known for his tasteful and inventive guitar playing. He performs passionate home made songs and compositions, mostly roots music. For the past ten years, Kemp wrote, recorded and performed with the critically acclaimed, Appalachian Folk duo, Jeni & Billy. Over the past forty years, Kemp has recorded five solo albums and written over two hundred songs. He’s performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and played loud electric guitar on international rock tours. He has worn the hat of producer, facilitator, teacher and composer. He established and ran a successful studio in the mid-Atlantic area for fifteen years and composed music for Maryland Public Television. Kemp is currently promoting his latest project, Another Life.
